Thank you for all of the parent and family support provided during our recent Open House. We are very proud of all of the wonderful learning projects taking place in our classrooms and hope this was a great night for you to celebrate your child’s progress.
We also look forward to inviting you to attend our upcoming GLO/ELA Family Learning Night on Thursday, September 28th. We hope you will take away important information needed to support and become more engaged in your child’s academic success while having some family fun learning together. Your ongoing support and parental engagement is essential for the success of our students. A special thank you goes out to the teachers, students, PTSA, and Family Focus Committee for making this Title I/PTSA sponsored event possible.
Please join me in giving a warm welcome to our 2017-18 PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) Board. Executive board members are: President-Farrah Krovoza, Vice President-Bethany Woodward, Interim Secretary-Sonrisa Stepath, Treasurer-Sue Keller and Advisor-Sue Saldana. These dedicated parent volunteers are very enthusiastic and busy planning events for the current school year. We are appreciative and hope you will join them to show your support. PTC (Parent/Teacher conferences) notices will be sent home on Sept. 28th. PTC will take place on Oct. 17, 19, 23-25 and school will be dismissed those days at 1:15 PM. Please make arrangements for your children after school during this time of early release so that you are able to get to your conference on time.
We continue to appreciate your patience during the cafeteria renovation process. Please remember to drive safely and cautiously on campus and follow the guidelines for picking up and dropping off your child. Many students ride bikes to school and park them either in the front or near the back of the campus. You may want to consider having your child lock their bike while parked on campus.
Kilauea School will be conducting our annual School Evacuation Drill on Friday, September 22 at 8:30 AM. This year, we will be evacuating to St. Sylvester’s Church. Kilauea teachers and staff as well as the Kauai Police Dept. will assist the students in this drill by providing supervision and traffic control along the route. The route will be to exit the school campus using the front entrance gate and walking along the road to the entrance of the church parking lot. Please remember to provide your child with the following items on the morning of the school evacuation drill: Hat or visor, walking shoes, a bottle of drinking water, sunscreen, and umbrella, if needed. In the event of weather concerns or heavy rain, this evacuation will be postponed.

We want to encourage children to dream of going to college and/or embarking on a career that will help them to become self-sufficient. The preparation for this begins the moment they enter our doors.
