Welcome to 2nd Grade

Dear Parents and Guardians🌺,

I would like to welcome you and your child to 2nd grade! I am so excited to be your child’s teacher. During such challenging and unprecedented times, I want to assure you that I am here to support and nurture your child’s education and social/emotional well being. I am also here to support you at home. We don’t know what the future will bring, but I can assure you that I will do my best each and every day to make sure this year will be the best it can be. Thank you for your patience during these past few weeks. As a parent, I completely understand how complicated this all can be.

Drop Off/ Pick up (For more details see most recent Kilauea school parent letter in Class Tag and the Parent Handbook attached link at the end of this letter)
A staggered drop off and pick has been established to address social distance requirements. All students who arrive on campus prior to 7:45 a.m. are to walk directly to the cafeteria for breakfast (No outside food is permitted to be eaten in cafeteria).

Students dropped off after 7:45 a.m. are to walk directly to his or her classroom. If tardy do not go to office, go directly to the classroom.

Pick Up

Children who walk, ride their bike, or catch the school bus home will dismissed directly from the classroom at 2:15.

Students who are picked up by parents or guardians will be escorted (training) to the flag pole where they will wait. Please keep circling in front drive until you see your child. Supervision is not provided before or after school except for students eating school bought breakfast

Our classroom door will open at 7:45 a.m. If your child is tardy (arrives to class after the 8:00 bell), he/she will need to report to class and the teacher will mark him/her tardy. If your child is absent, please call the office at 828-1212.

Communication Platform “Class Tag” (similar to Class Dojo)

Class Tag invites were sent home Friday, 8/14. This will be one of our means of communication this year for letters, updates, reminders, announcements, etc.
Class Tag is linked to Google Classroom. If you are unable to log on to Class Tag please let me know ASAP. I am happy to help and support in any way possible.

Students will use GOOGLE MEET for on line class instruction.

Thank You,

Mrs. Cornell 🌴
